Volt Finance
Simple Finance Tracking App
TLDR
Designed a comprehensive finance tracking application focused on creating an intuitive user experience with clear information architecture and consistent visual elements. The project prioritized user-centered design principles to help users effortlessly manage transactions, track budgets, and receive timely financial notifications.
Challenges and goals
Navigation Complexity
Create an intuitive navigation system allowing users to find features and complete tasks without frustration
Information Overload
Develop a clear information structure that organizes transactions and budgets logically
Visual Inconsistency
Establish a cohesive visual language with consistent icons, colors, and typography to improve readability
Research & Discovery
Market and user research
Gathered insights about financial tracking habits, pain points, and desired features, through interviews with peers and online surveys
Evaluated existing finance tracking solutions in the market, analyzed strengths and weaknesses of competitor interfaces
Based on the findings, I identified recurring themes and priorities and determined key feature requirements based on user feedback

Strategic Planning & Architecture
Based on research findings, I developed a comprehensive plan for the new website:
User Personas & Journey Mapping
I created two distinct personas representing the primary user groups
Detailed their goals, frustrations, behaviors, and expectations
Information Architecture and User Flow Optimization
I mapped out the critical paths users would take through the application
Focused on streamlining the experience for common tasks
Ensured both personas could achieve their goals efficiently and intuitively

Ideation & Wireframing
With a clear understanding of user needs, I began the design process by developing initial sketches to map out key features and interactions
Focused on task management and quick access to important information
After some iteration, I refined sketches into structured wireframes
Created low-fidelity prototypes for initial testing and validated navigation patterns and information architecture

UI Design & Visual Identity
After validating the structure, I developed the visual design:
Visual System
Created a consistent color palette reflecting trust and reliability
Designed custom icons for financial categories and actions
Key Screens Development
Designed a clean, minimal sign-in/sign-up experience and requested only essential information during registration
Developed comprehensive yet digestible financial overview screens and incorporated intuitive data visualizations and progress indicators
Created an accessible notification system available from all screens and designed alerts for bills, deadlines, and important financial updates
